Das sanfte Klavier und die wehmütigen Streicher von „The Prince and the Emperor“ setzen der Geschichte des Ritters Aleramo aus dem 10. Jahrhundert ein Denkmal, das helle, hoffnungsvolle „Adelasia“ wiederum ist inspiriert von der Prinzessin, die jenen Aleramo so bezauberte. Figuren, die uns vielleicht aus der für lange Zeit vergessenen Oper „Adelasia ed Aleramo“ vertraut sind, die im Jahr 1806 in der Mailänder Scala uraufgeführt wurde.
